Roanoke, VA – November 7, 2024 – Three years after establishing Roanoke’s newest community-based financial institution, Ridge View Bank celebrated the grand opening of its new headquarters and flagship office. Located at 3529 Franklin Road, the 16,300-square-foot building features a 2,800-square-foot SMART Center, offering customers advanced technology in a boutique-like setting. As the only full-service bank headquartered in the city of Roanoke, Ridge View Bank offers an experience like no other in the region.
“I like to call it our custom red-carpet service,” said Ridge View Bank President Carrie McConnell, who grew up in the New River Valley and has lived in the Roanoke Valley for the last 25 years. “The goal is to get people in and out quickly or let them stay as long as they want in our coffee shop-style setting, and then have a full suite of services available at their fingertips.”
Ridge View Bank’s modern SMART center includes a wireless café-style lobby, open transaction areas, digital displays, cash recyclers, and a coin counter. The space also offers a complimentary coffee station featuring Ridge View Bank’s own private-label coffee, and a Kids Zone where children can access games via a touch screen.
The SMART Center is also complemented by two drive-up banking lanes, where customers can access the SMART Station to use interactive video to perform such transactions as making deposits, withdrawals, loan payments, cashing checks, reviewing account balances, and loan payoffs. Customers can access the SMART stations and speak to a banker Mondays through Fridays from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m., and from 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. on Saturdays.
“Our customers love our technology,” McConnell said. “We have very robust online banking, but we often also see folks come to our SMART Centers, say hi to our employees, and then go straight back and use the lobby ETM. Clients have really enjoyed it.”
The new headquarters also has a dedicated training facility, conference rooms, an outdoor deck, and large boardroom to host monthly meetings of Ridge View’s local advisory board. The boardroom table was derived from a poplar tree sourced in nearby Charlottesville through Black Dog Salvage, and the table base was created locally by Lift Arc Studios.
“We are thrilled that Ridge View Bank chose the City of Roanoke for its headquarters,” said Marc Nelson, Director of Economic Development for the City of Roanoke. “Its ongoing investment in our community, and the services it provides to businesses and localities across our region, will spark ongoing economic development that benefits all our citizens.”
The new Roanoke branch is Ridge View Bank’s third SMART Center in the region, following locations that opened in 2023 in Salem and at Smith Mountain Lake.
Roanoke-based Balzer & Associates served as the architect and engineering team for the new facility, a Green Globes-certified project committed to environmental sustainability. G&H Contracting of Salem was the general contractor. The Element Group, a New Hampshire-based design firm that specializes in financial institutions, provided finishes, final colors, graphics, digital signage, and other creative touches. The Element Group partnered locally with Barrows to deliver all the building’s furnishings.
“Ridge View Bank’s approach to banking is changing the game,” said Ben Crew, Vice President, Civil Engineering, at Balzer & Associates and a member of the Ridge View Bank Board of Advisors. “They’re building something special under the signature ‘red peaks’ that distinguish each of their community branches. Their creative and committed leadership team is focused on every client’s financial goals and success. That is their hallmark.”
With 31 employees and counting, including five new positions at the Roanoke branch, Ridge View Bank is poised for growth in 2025 and beyond. McConnell said she anticipates growing the corporate team at the new headquarters as they continue to expand. Ridge View Bank is backed by CNB Bank, a $5.9 billion company based in Pennsylvania, allowing it to provide both large-scale commercial lending and substantial support for small businesses.
